Mindful Monday

I am starting a weekly feature called, “Mindful Monday,” where I want to share my views on becoming ‘mindful’.  This encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in your life you feel it applies to.

This week, because I over indulged during the holidays, I am going to practice “mindful-eating.” I need to get back on track with my weight loss journey.  I need to slow down and take my time.  I also need to eat at the table, not sitting on the couch just munching away, or at my desk reading blogs on WordPress.

I also decided that this week I am going to use chopsticks to eat at least one meal each day.  This will make me slow down and savor my food.

(Eat, Drink and Be Mindful)

The above image is a great way to jump start your weight loss journey by practicing mindful eating.  My mantra for this week is:

“EAT TO NOURISH & ENERGIZE.”

This is not a challenge.  This is an offering of support.  If you would like to join in with your own Mindful Monday goals you can do so in the comments or on a separate post of your own making.  If you want to link back to my post, please feel free to do so however, it is not necessary.  My main objective here is to give and get support to become more mindful of the things I take for granted in life.

  1. Excellent ideas! One of my students wrote about mindfulness in his pursuit of happiness (final paper assignment). I’ve seen this notion of mindfulness a lot lately–must be God’s message to me! Thanks for sharing the graphics (I pinned the 26 step one). It’s still Sunday here so I’ll start my mindful eating in the morning 😉

  2. Colleen this, I really do think, is what I need to get back to. I used to practice this but got discouraged by other people who snorted derision , in my direction , if i even mentioned this type of life. Although I am still standing at that huge crossroad I am slowly beginning to like what you and Eddie two hawks offer. So like you I am going to go the eating route also.

  3. This is actually my primary goal for 2015, however one that I struggle with a horribly! The past year or so my life has been a non-stop race, and with that has come a brain that never seems to slow down. I love your suggestions, and look forward to being a part of this journey.

    1. I find that I have to slow down and not run around crazy. I am a planner so that helps. Find 5 minutes a day to sit quietly and clear your thoughts. Try to think about nothing. It’s hard to do at first. Take a walk, or a bath – something that is only for you. Pay attention to how you feel. Just try to slow down. 💖

      1. Thank you Jade. I am planning on posting Mindful Monday each week to share my journey. I always do better with support in things like this. There is a content here that transcends all religions I believe. It is mostly about taking care of yourself and coming to a realization about your own life. I welcome your support.
