Thank YOU!

I would like to thank each of the wonderful bloggers who wrote such engaging articles for me while I was on vacation the last few days. We have such an amazing and diverse blogging community here on WordPress. We all benefit from meeting new folks, reading different viewpoints, and learning a few new things. At the same time, I would like to thank the regular readers of Silver Threading for welcoming my guests with open arms, which is the spirit of blogging that I most enjoy engaging in.

Ron and I had a fabulous time with our daughter Ronda, and the new man in her life, Patric. We did the usual tour around the town of the beach and the Pensacola Pier. It was a hot, humid day on Sunday and this fellow met us on the pier.

I believe he is some type of crane. The bird was watching the fishermen on the pier hoping for a chance to steal a tiny morsel from their bait buckets. That got us thinking about our next stop, Joe Patti’s famous seafood market where we bought enough fish to barbecue for a week.

The rest of the time, we enjoyed each other’s company. It was a joy to see our daughter this happy. We cooked and laughed and told stories. Both Ron and Patric are retired Air Force crew-chiefs, so we never lacked for entertaining stories of our men and women in the military.

Yesterday, it was decided that a couple of trees around the horse-hole in our backyard needed to be removed before a storm came along and knocked them down.

The trees were felled in short order and the branches bundled up and put on the curb to be picked up by our local trash men. It was a fun day. In the afternoon, we barbecued steaks, mahi-mahi, and cod. The humidity increased during the day forcing us indoors into the air conditioning.

We have just returned from dropping Ronda and Patric off at the airport. I am sad that our visit was over as quickly as it had begun. I must say we had the best time.

I am worn out from having so much fun! Tomorrow is another day. I will do the Writer’s Quote Wednesday Weekly Wrap-up tomorrow and get a new post ready for this week. Now, I need a vacation from my vacation! Thanks again, and I will see you all tomorrow.

  1. I’m glad you had a good break Colleen. I’m still playing catch up as well. I am looking forward to reading your guest posts, with a large glass of wine.
I think your bird may be a grey heron. We have them on our river and he looks familiar. x:)

    1. My picture did not do him justice Dorne. He was a blue heron. So majestic! He let us walk around him on the pier with no problem. Did you have a good time on your break? <3

  2. When ever I have come back from a vacation saying I need another vacation to get over it, I’ve always known I’ve had a wonderful time, Colleen.

Great to hear that Ronda and her new partner, Patric, enjoyed their stay with you and that you enjoyed their company as well. Sounds like you guys had a real ball and that you ensured they were well fed and had a great time. Your the perfect hostess.

Welcome back to the world of blogging. <3

    1. Thank you, Hugh. I am S L O W L Y getting some of my posts done. I have 4 book reviews to write, a couple of interviews to set up too! I need to get busy. We had the best time with Ronda and Patric. It was such a quick visit that we ran like crazy the whole time. I am thoroughly worn out! Once I get back into the swing of things I will be better. I really enjoyed having the guest bloggers. It was fun to see all the different posts. I hope to continue that at least once a month. I missed you, Hugh! <3 😀

      1. Oh tell me about it 🙂 I seem to be forever catching up now, but I’m still enjoying it and that is what counts.

We mustn’t ignore our lives and what goes on in it. Yes, it’s great to step away and come to Planet Blog (as I like to call it), and of course we should always be encouraged to do what we like to do during each day.

I’ve read most of the guest posts that were published here while you were away, and enjoyed what I read, but I did particularly enjoy the short stories most of all.

        We missed you to. xx

Very nice all the way around, my friend. Now good luck recuperating from such good times! Back to the real blogging world, Colleen. 😉 <3
