5 Days – 5 Photos: Creating Fairy Magic

I have been selected by Jennifer Nichole Wells to participate in the 5 photos – 5 days challenge. What does this mean for you, dear readers?

The challenge rules: “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and tell a story about each photo.  The story can be truth or fiction, poetry or prose.  Each day one must also nominate a fellow blogger to participate in the challenge.”

Day 4: Believe in the Magic of Fairies and Make Some of Your OWN

It is easy to paint pictures with words. Today, I share how to make fairy magic on your photos!

This is the untouched photo I used to create my fairy magic photo.

I used PicMonkey and added the dark edges first. The dark edges enhance the sun behind the trees and give the image a magical appearance. Then, I added the words. To finish off the effect, I used a “space” texture to give the photo its mystical glow.

PicMonkey is a free and fun way to add magic to your photos. Have fun and get creative!

Today, I would like to ask Maniparna, from Scattered Thoughts to join in this fun and creative challenge. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!

Thanks for visiting. I will see you tomorrow,

About Colleen M. Chesebro

Colleen M. Chesebro is an American Novelist & Poet who loves writing paranormal fantasy and magical realism, cross-genre fiction, syllabic poetry, and creative nonfiction. She loves all things magical which may mean that she could be experiencing her second childhood—or not. That part of her life hasn’t been fully decided yet. A few years ago, a mystical experience led her to renew her passion for writing and storytelling. These days she resides in the fantasy realm of the Faery Writer where she writes the magical poetry and stories that the fairy nymphs whisper to her in her dreams. Colleen won the “Little and Laugh” Flash Fiction Contest sponsored by the Carrot Ranch Literary Community on November 2017, and in 2018, she won first place for the “Twisted Travel” category. Colleen lives in Arizona with her husband. When she is not writing, Colleen enjoys spending time with her husband. She also loves gardening, reading, and crocheting old-fashioned doilies into works of art. Learn more about Colleen on colleenchesebro.com.

  1. I’m so impressed by this. I adore your edit! Beautiful.

  2. Wow! I love this! 😄. Thanks for sharing your process. I’ve used Picmonkey a bit and it gives great effects.

  3. Picmonkey is the best! Your picture looks quite magical- it’s very cool how you can create that look and completely change the original picture. 🙂

  4. Great result. I have photoshop but it is too complicated. I’ve tried some others and use Canva.com for social media stuff but haven’t tried pic.monkey yet. When I’m done with the series I must have a play. Thanks for the magic and for the post!

  5. I’ve never used PicMonkey since you introduced me to FotoFlexer, Colleen. I’m guessing you prefer PicMonkey?

    • They both do a few different things that the other doesn’t. I have used both on my photos to achieve cool results. I guess I do use PicMonkey more now than FotoFlexer. I think both are great. 😀

  6. Great photo!! I like to see the before and after ! Nice editing:)

  7. Great results with your photo and picmonkey.

  8. Truly magical!

  9. I love PicMonkey. It is one of the easiest programmes I’ve used, which is a bonus because I’m terrible at creating graphics and manipulating photographs! I want to learn more, tell myself I will, but I never get around to it. I’ll dig out an online course one of these days 😀 Thanks for sharing. I always love your graphics…especially of Silver <3
