WordPress Tip – Guaranteed You Will Get More Readers!

This is great information. I am using the Reader exclusively now… no more Email. This tip is a huge help! ❀

    1. I changed my setting a while back and I do get a steady flow of new followers. WP is making it easier and easier to follow from the reader. The email is such a mess to contend with. My phone almost blew up a couple of times. Good luck, Mark.

      1. I hate the Reader, Colleen. Back and forth I must jump. I also am under the impression that you don’t get registered as a true view stat unless you click the headline and go to the post. Let’s see if changing this setting makes my stats jumps somehow, proving that wrong.

        1. I think some of that has changed, Mark. The reader is so much easier. I cannot deal with 300 emails a day. It was just too darn stressful. I seem to find everyone just fine. Good questions. My stats have been higher since I started using the reader. πŸ˜€

        2. I was told the same thing, Mark. My readership when up when I changed and had just part of my posts show in the reader, but perhaps it has changed.
I would have only 1/2 as many views as likes before I did that. I could never figure out how that could be.

          1. Let me get this straight. You changed it to show only part of your story and you went up? The illustration read as if to instruct to change it to full text for the better result. So I changed it from excerpt to full text.

          2. No, I changed it to show full text. My views went up since I ditched email because I now have more time to spend on the reader reading blogs and commenting. Sorry for the confusion. :-/

          3. Well perhaps it has changed, but I was told that it only records as a view if they actually go to your page. They can “like” you on the reader, and that is why I was getting more likes than views. It has perhaps changed. Next time a tech person pops up on my site and asks how they can help, I’ll ask. They just pop up mysteriously. Don’t know what causes it.

          4. I talked to a Happiness Engineer on WordPress and she is going to get the definitive answer from her boss. I’ll pass it on. I’ll probably just do so on my blog so I don’t have to keep track of everyone who wants to know, so keep checking!

          5. Judy, I should tell you that even though I use the reader, I still go into each blog post, even if it is a reblog. So in effect, I am visiting the blogs. There just is no email to drive me crazy. πŸ˜€

  1. I can’t comment at Belinda’s post, so I will do it here instead.
If we only use the Reader it is not possible to share the posts to the social media’s, because this isn’t possible from the Reader.

  2. Synchronicity?

I did see this post of yours to be honest. But I was not sure what was in it. πŸ™‚

Today I had such experience too. In fact I had started feeling like this since last two days. πŸ™‚

Please see this post where I advise my fellow bloggers for opening their posts for Reader, especially travel bloggers πŸ™‚

This is a community blog and I am an administer there along with many others. πŸ™‚

Thanks for sharing this. I feel a little annoyed now if someone locks their posts on Reader but it’s fine if I really love reading someone. Reader is a pleasant experience indeed.

    Thanks Silver πŸ™‚

    1. There have been some new improvements to the reader. You can share posts directly to social media now. I used to get 300+ emails a day. Too stressful and I could not visit them all anyway. The reader is worth a look. πŸ˜€

  3. Somehow I managed to set it originally to ‘full’ so it’s not that that’s causing a lack of readers. I’ve just got to write more and better posts, LOL. I agree on the reader though, I’ll be checking them out that way in the future!

  4. I’m giving it a try. I haven’t done much to increase readership, but I try to be a little consistent with posting around 3-4 times a month. I’m sure I need a better schedule. I suppose the blog is more for ‘me’ than anyone else – so much for an author platform. Ha!
