The Weather Witch

I have been told that I am a weather witch, a purveyor of the elements. Strange weather events take place where ever we live. Somehow I maneuver the climate. Like the blizzard that blew into Colorado Springs last evening through this morning…

Silver the weather witch

The winds blew hard, battering the north side of the house. Boards creaked and groaned as the upstairs part of the house swayed in the wind.

Snow flew sideways down the road. The cold winds of autumn blew the early snow into drifts deep enough to swallow a man.

Great clumps of cold, wet snow filled the glass on the windows making it impossible to see outside. A dark gloom settled within the house.

Hard icy pellets of snow battered the back door.

The wind blew harder, burying everything in its path in a silent white death. Ice daggers hung from the shutters on the house.

Suddenly, the sky cleared into a deep crystal blue while the snow crystals glistened on the drifts below.

Winter is Coming

Truth be told… it’s not even winter yet!

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see you all again!

  1. A wonderful creative mix of real imagery and artwork to share the freezing cold of your coming winter. Over here Summer is around, today 31oC and bushfires burning.

  2. I love winter. Bring it on!

    • I know. We didn’t even have a shovel. I had to borrow one from a neighbor to get out the driveway to go buy a shovel! All the stores are sold out of shovels and snow blowers! We are definitely getting a snow blower, though. It was heavy and wet and Ron is a 100% disabled veteran. He had to help me, it was so heavy. Oh, well. They will restock. I missed the snow so much. I would rather be here than in all the heat and humidity. 😀

  3. We’ve had those kind of winter days here in TN. Not too many years ago snow & a freeze caused trees to snap into. You could hear it in the house, the snap & then the fall. In IN a snow fall helped sell shirts imprinted with I survived the blizzard… The snow drift covered the entrance to our front door & drifted up the wall to the second story. Still, it never lasts long. I recall watching for snow over the years the best time for watching snow fall is at night, it looks like diamonds.

  4. Here it’s very windy, as Sue said. And this weekend it’s supposed to be very cold. I hope you enjoy your weather. Snow… Well, it’s pretty, but here it makes life very difficult.

  5. Beautiful description…making you a force to reckon with!

  6. Beautiful photos, but in glad you moved to Colorado and not West Virginia if you bring that stuff along! LOL 😉

    • Ha, ha, LOL! I have been teased for years about my weather insanity. When we moved to Florida, we had days of torrential rain and a cool summer (typically unheard of). Who knows what will happen this winter. ⛄😀⛄

  7. Stay warm, safe and cozy in your lovely new home!

  8. WHAAAAAAT ! So much snow! Looks like Mother Nature arrived early with her snow forecast this year ! Hang in there!!!

  9. Looks cold. Early winter there? Bundle up. The leaves are just turning here and it’s getting chilly. We are supposed to have a big El Nino here starting in January. Are you getting settled?

  10. Now that’s what I call snow!:) Keep warm. Janet

  11. It’s really crazy how much snow you already have and how heavy winter sets in. I hope that real winter is not worse… or at least not a lot! But the photos you posted are amazing! Thank you!

  12. Oh, goodness, what a contrast to Florida! You used to make me so jealous of your sunshine. I’m not at all jealous of your snow – you can keep it. We’ve had rain for days, which is bad enough.

  13. I’m with Sue! You made the snow sound magical and enticing, but things tend to grind to a halt over here and we’re not geared up for the snow. I, too, have a love/hate relationship with it. If I could stay inside by a warm fire, I’d be happy! Unfortunately I often have to venture out and the craziness begins! 😀

  14. It looks like winter Colleen, but you did also ask for changes 🙂

  15. Well, here in on the outskirts of not so sunny Scarborough in Yorkshire we have had extremely heavy rain again tonight and the wind picks up and then drops again. It’s picking up again at the moment. I think this damn storm is now called Barney.
As for snow, I love it and we haven’t seen any for a while. I love to walk in it, play in it, build snowmen and take photographs of it. So Mrs Weather Witch will you please send some of the white stuff my way.
Then when we are snowed in I can blog about it and post lots of pictures of it. Winter isn’t winter without snow, ice and frost.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy. xxxx

  16. Don’t. Do. That. To. Me. I’m still in recovery after last year’s 8 feet of snow. Brrrrrr!

  17. Wow winter already!

  18. Yikes! That looks pretty intense!

  19. Just keep that stuff over your way, would you, please? 😉

  20. I’m not a fan of winter. We got a little snow this morning and should get a little more tomorrow. I will be happy to just get a little at a time and not a blizzard!

    • After living in Florida the last couple of years, I really had to wrap my head around the snow. I love it and hate it. Oh, well. It is passing through now. It’s the winds that are so rough still.
