I have been told that I am a weather witch, a purveyor of the elements. Strange weather events take place where ever we live. Somehow I maneuver the climate. Like the blizzard that blew into Colorado Springs last evening through this morning…
The winds blew hard, battering the north side of the house. Boards creaked and groaned as the upstairs part of the house swayed in the wind.
Snow flew sideways down the road. The cold winds of autumn blew the early snow into drifts deep enough to swallow a man.
Great clumps of cold, wet snow filled the glass on the windows making it impossible to see outside. A dark gloom settled within the house.
Hard icy pellets of snow battered the back door.
The wind blew harder, burying everything in its path in a silent white death. Ice daggers hung from the shutters on the house.
Suddenly, the sky cleared into a deep crystal blue while the snow crystals glistened on the drifts below.

A wonderful creative mix of real imagery and artwork to share the freezing cold of your coming winter. Over here Summer is around, today 31oC and bushfires burning.
I know. We didn’t even have a shovel. I had to borrow one from a neighbor to get out the driveway to go buy a shovel! All the stores are sold out of shovels and snow blowers! We are definitely getting a snow blower, though. It was heavy and wet and Ron is a 100% disabled veteran. He had to help me, it was so heavy. Oh, well. They will restock. I missed the snow so much. I would rather be here than in all the heat and humidity. 😀
We’ve had those kind of winter days here in TN. Not too many years ago snow & a freeze caused trees to snap into. You could hear it in the house, the snap & then the fall. In IN a snow fall helped sell shirts imprinted with I survived the blizzard… The snow drift covered the entrance to our front door & drifted up the wall to the second story. Still, it never lasts long. I recall watching for snow over the years the best time for watching snow fall is at night, it looks like diamonds.
Even after living in Wisconsin as a child and then in Montana for 17 years, I don’t think I have saw such a blizzard. Our housing area is brand new so the snow was propelled across the prairie. There are 8 to 10 ft. drifts in some areas. All in all, I think we got around 10 inches of snow. The bad thing is all the shovels and snow blowers are sold out! Sometimes you just have to laugh! LOL!
Here it’s very windy, as Sue said. And this weekend it’s supposed to be very cold. I hope you enjoy your weather. Snow… Well, it’s pretty, but here it makes life very difficult.
Ha, ha, LOL! I have been teased for years about my weather insanity. When we moved to Florida, we had days of torrential rain and a cool summer (typically unheard of). Who knows what will happen this winter. ⛄😀⛄
What a mess! I had to borrow a neighbor’s shovel so we could go buy a shovel… sold out! No shovels or snow blowers in the area! LOL! The sun is melting most of it now. Thank goodness! 😀
Looks cold. Early winter there? Bundle up. The leaves are just turning here and it’s getting chilly. We are supposed to have a big El Nino here starting in January. Are you getting settled?
It’s really crazy how much snow you already have and how heavy winter sets in. I hope that real winter is not worse… or at least not a lot! But the photos you posted are amazing! Thank you!
The storms move through quickly. Its all in the elevation and the closeness to the Rocky Mountains. Its sunny and windy now. It should calm down after dark. I did miss the snow. 😉💗
Oh, goodness, what a contrast to Florida! You used to make me so jealous of your sunshine. I’m not at all jealous of your snow – you can keep it. We’ve had rain for days, which is bad enough.
I’m with Sue! You made the snow sound magical and enticing, but things tend to grind to a halt over here and we’re not geared up for the snow. I, too, have a love/hate relationship with it. If I could stay inside by a warm fire, I’d be happy! Unfortunately I often have to venture out and the craziness begins! 😀
I so agree with you. I remember it snowed on RAF Lakenheath when I was there. Everyone freaked out. Although your bone chilling cold is equal to our cold here. Everything stopped here too. Schools, businesses, and even the interstate highway was closed. A bad storm all around. Stay warm and safe. 💗💗💗
Well, here in on the outskirts of not so sunny Scarborough in Yorkshire we have had extremely heavy rain again tonight and the wind picks up and then drops again. It’s picking up again at the moment. I think this damn storm is now called Barney.
As for snow, I love it and we haven’t seen any for a while. I love to walk in it, play in it, build snowmen and take photographs of it. So Mrs Weather Witch will you please send some of the white stuff my way.
Then when we are snowed in I can blog about it and post lots of pictures of it. Winter isn’t winter without snow, ice and frost.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy. xxxx
LOL! Dorne, I wish I could. apparently I can only inflict the weather on Ron and myself. It is cold and the wind is howling while the sun shines. The drifts are amazing! ⛄💗
We did not sleep much last night. The upstairs was creaking in the wind something fierce. 50 to 65 mph winds! I haven’t seen a blizzard in quite a few years!
No kidding! We had to borrow a neighbors shovel to get out this morning to get to a store to buy a shovel or snow blower. Everything is sold out. Freaky weather! LOL!
Ha, Ha! LOL! Sue, I think you are safe. We are about 6,000 ft. up in elevation and the weather tends to hug the Rocky Mountain range. Once it blows through it rushes into the Great Plains. <3
I’m not a fan of winter. We got a little snow this morning and should get a little more tomorrow. I will be happy to just get a little at a time and not a blizzard!
After living in Florida the last couple of years, I really had to wrap my head around the snow. I love it and hate it. Oh, well. It is passing through now. It’s the winds that are so rough still.

That sounds quite nice also, Denis. 😀
I love winter. Bring it on!

That’s right.
I know there are tunnels at, I think U of WI to get from one building to another.youre made of tough stuff my dear!
LOL! I am much better in the cold than the heat and humidity. LOL!

Here too, Olga. It warms up to 50 F. today. Lots of melting. The wind was ferocious here, too. Sunny today. Stay warm. 💗⛄
Reblogged this on Anita Dawes & Jaye Marie.
Beautiful description…making you a force to reckon with!
Ha, ha… LOL. I feel a short story coming along. 😀⛄
Beautiful photos, but in glad you moved to Colorado and not West Virginia if you bring that stuff along! LOL 😉
Ha, ha, LOL! I have been teased for years about my weather insanity. When we moved to Florida, we had days of torrential rain and a cool summer (typically unheard of). Who knows what will happen this winter. ⛄😀⛄
Stay warm, safe and cozy in your lovely new home!
Thank you, Lia. I will take some photos or a video soon. ❤
Looking forward to it:)
WHAAAAAAT ! So much snow! Looks like Mother Nature arrived early with her snow forecast this year ! Hang in there!!!
LOL! Wait till we have to shovel out! It will be sunny and in the 50’s today. Not bad for the day after a blizzard. 😀💗⛄
Oh good:) I’m glad it warmed up to help you shovel out!!!
What a mess! I had to borrow a neighbor’s shovel so we could go buy a shovel… sold out! No shovels or snow blowers in the area! LOL! The sun is melting most of it now. Thank goodness! 😀
Oh yes I can imagine you didn’t pack a snow shovel in your Florida boxes;)) Glad Mother Nature is helping to thaw you out!
Hahaha!
Looks cold. Early winter there? Bundle up. The leaves are just turning here and it’s getting chilly. We are supposed to have a big El Nino here starting in January. Are you getting settled?
Hi, Deborah. Yes, almost all unpacked. Its so good to see you. I am wondering how the El Nino will affect us. It could get interesting.😀⛄
We are supposed to get a ton of rain here. I hope you don’t get a ton of snow. But I really don’t know if El Nino travels outside of California.
I think so. We are in direct line of the storm paths. I expect lots of snow!
Well we will have to compare when it gets here. So you have to gear up for snowy weather and we have to get our roof gutters installed. 🙂
LOL! Ron and I are making a shopping list: snow shovels, ice melt, and wind shield scrapers! LOL!
Oh man. Sounds like you are getting ready. 🙂
Oh, yes. After today’s storm.
Now that’s what I call snow!:) Keep warm. Janet
Thank you. Hot veggie soup tonight. 💕

You did? Ha, lucky you. You might have picked the perfect place 😉 That means we might see a lot of white for the next 5 months!
Absolutely. I grew up in snow. It makes me happy. 😃💖
You know what? That makes me really happy for you! We are going to see the first signs of winter this weekend after 2 weeks of spring… lol 💖
What fun. I loved your pictures of living near the mountains. Now, I do too. I love it! 💗⛄
You sound so happy, Colleen! I am glad you are there now!😘😘😘
Thanks, Erika. We are much happier here. I will have to send you an email and update you on everything. <3
Oh yes, please, Colleen! I wonder a lot how you did and how you are now in the new environment! 😘
Oh, goodness, what a contrast to Florida! You used to make me so jealous of your sunshine. I’m not at all jealous of your snow – you can keep it. We’ve had rain for days, which is bad enough.
I still have snow, but the sun is shining, Mary. Quite beautiful except for the wind. 🌞
I like my snow on Christms cards 🙂
Ha, ha! Mary, I am laughing so hard! 😀💗

You too, my friend. Safe, and warm in your new home – yay! <3<3<3
I will try and put together a video next week to share.😃💗
That would be awesome 😀 <3
😻
It looks like winter Colleen, but you did also ask for changes 🙂
Absolutely. I am good. I don’t have to work in it, so that works. Lots of changes in Colorado. 😉⛄🌞

Don’t. Do. That. To. Me. I’m still in recovery after last year’s 8 feet of snow. Brrrrrr!
I know… sorry, Rob. I worry that it will blow your way. What a storm! Whew!
Did it melt right away, or is it still on the ground?
Melting and still blowing and drifting. 😯
Wow winter already!
Lyn, I think it is the elevation (6000 ft. up) and the proximity to the Rocky Mountains. Blue skies now. 😀
wow I love those days when the sky is then blue and the snow is glittery!
It is glorious! 😀
🙂 yes
Yikes! That looks pretty intense!
We did not sleep much last night. The upstairs was creaking in the wind something fierce. 50 to 65 mph winds! I haven’t seen a blizzard in quite a few years!
Yikes! Those high winds make me so nervous! And then add snow to it- I can’t imagine. Well, I’m not ready for snow yet. Stay warm and safe! 🙂
Thanks, Kat. We were unable to sleep last night it was so bad. In Florida, it was driving rain and thunderstorms, and hurricanes! LOL! 🌈🌞
Crazy weather!
No kidding! We had to borrow a neighbors shovel to get out this morning to get to a store to buy a shovel or snow blower. Everything is sold out. Freaky weather! LOL!
Just keep that stuff over your way, would you, please? 😉
Ha, Ha! LOL! Sue, I think you are safe. We are about 6,000 ft. up in elevation and the weather tends to hug the Rocky Mountain range. Once it blows through it rushes into the Great Plains. <3
With the winds we have here again tonight, I’m not sure we are that safe at all 😉 It’s already brought my fence down.
Oh no! That is how bad it was here too!
Trouble is, I’m not much of a carpenter 😉
Me either. Stay warm and safe. 💗
You too, Colleen! <3
I’m not a fan of winter. We got a little snow this morning and should get a little more tomorrow. I will be happy to just get a little at a time and not a blizzard!
