The Winds of Change

The winds of change are blowing –

hurtling the dust and debris of old ideas

down the stairs of minds that quit listening long ago.

The words are articulated by narcissistic charlatans,

who aim to pave the way for their own philosophy

of what they think, we need.

The old ways are now the new ways,

deceiving the remnants of a past that must not

be repeated by the mistakes of our future.

Can you hear the gale winds blowing?

A malignancy of distrust eddies around the

hearts of those who choose a different journey.

The reckoning is coming.

The storm will not abate.

The winds of change are blowing…

        1. You are so right, Hugh. These words just slipped right out of me. Of course, our political arena in the U. S. is so contentious right now. I am just appalled. I know that was a large part of my words. It seems like there is political unrest all over the world. Scary times.

  1. A beautiful poem, Colleen. The winds of change certainly are blowing. As states are caucusing and holding primaries, the political winds are blowing. As winter is receding and early spring flowers are popping up, the seasonal winds are blowing. As we exchange our unhealthy lifestyles for healthier ones, we hope many changes will come. Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. Hugs, my dear friend.
