Author and Poet, Balroop Singh

Magic figures prominently in my writing and is one of my favorite subjects. Imagine my happiness when the poet, Balroop Singh, agreed to write about something dear to my heart – the magical healing powers that each of us possesses.

I’ve been reading Balroop’s poetry from her blog for a few years now. Her words and descriptions always propel me to a new level of enjoyment. As a former teacher, Balroop says that her students are her real inspiration. Many life lessons were learned between her and the students she loved. These experiences find their way into her inspiring poetry.

I haven’t read any of her poetry books yet, but I have a feeling that I will. Her newest book is called, Emerging from Shadows, Poetry by Balroop Singh, and is available on Amazon.

“From darkness into light, from despair onto the wider ways of hope… life oscillates between sunshine and shadows. Emerging from shadows is a choice, which lies dormant, which can be gently inspired by self-talk. Each poem in this book banks on the hope of emerging stronger, saner, positive and resilient. Each poem in this book would talk to you, revealing layers of enclosed emotions. Each poem would divulge a secret path that could lead you into the world of poise and serenity.

When turbulences hit, when shadows of life darken, when they come like unseen robbers, with muffled exterior, when they threaten to shatter your dreams, it is better to break free rather than get sucked into the vortex of emotions.”

MAGICAL HEALING POWERS THAT WE POSSESS

I approach you with the magic of words…words that soothe, words that can heal, words that emit positive vibes, which are hard to miss!

Poets create their own land of fantasy with those words, which can transport you beyond the horizon. Yes! You can watch all the hues of love, life, and illusions. You can choose what fancies you and hang in there as long as you want to.

Do you want to visit that land of fantasy just now? Please read my haiku and look up at the sky:

Waves speak to me

Of unknown love that breathes

Whispering wondrous tunes.

I am sure those tunes are reverberating around you! Welcome to this world, which my latest book ‘Emerging From Shadows’ reveals to you. Here, reality and fantasy merge into each other to expunge moments of distress. Shadows symbolize all those moments, which are persistent, which refuse to forsake us despite our best efforts to move on.

Do we have the power to convert those moments of anguish and dejection into learning blocks? Yes! Our mind possesses that magical power to spin them around and present them back to us with a new flavor.

I discovered this power quite unknowingly. When grief becomes unbearable when it keeps dragging you down into the deepest dumps, when you feel the choking unbearable, when inner darkness shrouds you when you are surrounded by misfortunes, when nothing seems to work, and you don’t have any choice, you have to rely on the magical powers within you.

The magical world of self-healing lies within our reach; we just have to look within, introspect and feel the shimmer, struggling to stretch beyond our expectations.

Consider this excerpt from one of my poems:

Speaking soothing syllables to myself

I try to form new words

Words of self-solace

Words of wisdom that are forced out

That could resonate with pain…

©2017 Balroop Singh

Pain is not individualistic; it permeates this universe, encompassing all that comes within its ambit, touching everyone with its icy finger. Sometimes it tries to smash our spirit, but words of self-solace come to our rescue, stirring the magical power of positivity.

How to keep that magic alive?

My book ‘Emotional Truths Of Relationships’ lays bare the magic of words and positivity:

Talk to yourself. Self- talking is a powerful tool in our hands. Let the talk go on and on, don’t try to give it a direction. Let the positive and negative thoughts flow on. When they exhaust themselves, then sift through your thoughts and pick up the positive ones to convince yourself about the situation you are trying to handle.

Accept. that you are just going through a bad phase. Everybody has to. Calm down and accept that you don’t have any control over some circumstances, but you can control the damage, which the present situation might do, to your mental and emotional health.

Share your thoughts. Don’t conceal your wounds. When you speak out your mind, half of the burden wears off. You can discuss your anxieties and fears with a person you trust, a friend or sister, someone you are comfortable with. It gives immense relief, and you will feel lighter.

Let the tears flow. They bring about catharsis and have an amazing healing power. The pain of your heart will melt away for the time being. Let all the thoughts of regret, guilt, and forgiveness visit you again and again and let them flow away.

Pour your heart out. Write down all your thoughts; give vent to the remorse and the censure and frame your answers to all the questions that are troubling you. Put them into words as their magic could empower you and endow you with a strange self- satisfaction, and self-healing.

All my books try to keep the magic of words alive. You can have a look at them:

  3. This post really spoke to me, Colleen and Balroop ~ these words especially:

Words of wisdom that are forced out
    That could resonate with pain…

So often we shun pain and seek relief without the least little introspection. Pain heralds the need for change. If we run from it, we learn nothing. If we move into it and examine every fiber, we grow, and can then let go. Thank you, my dear friends, for sharing so much of your souls 💕💕

    1. Tina, I must agree with you. That is the only way we know we are truly alive – by feeling those emotions that hurt. The sting dulls with time, but it’s always there hiding in the background. It’s a mindfulness for sure. Hugs to you my “soul sister.” ❤

  4. You have hit the nail on the head Tina, by choosing those words, which we speak to ourselves to alleviate our pain. Eventually only we know how to heal our hurts…it may take some time but we do emerge from our grief. Poetry has provided me a haven of inner peace as all the emotions get embedded in those poems. 🙂
Many thanks for sharing your perspective. 🙂

I am sure the poems in this book will soothe many souls, and encourage them to tap the power of positive self-talk to heal themselves and step out of their emotional shadows into the bright and soft sunshine.
