#Fairies, #Myths, & #Magic 2018 Author Spotlight Guest Posts, “The Inspiration of Nature,” by Allison Rose
Welcome to my author spotlight guest posts where I introduce you to independent authors from various genres from around the globe. I’m glad you’re here. You might meet your new favorite author!
Meet my new friend, Allison Rose. Not only does she love writing fantasy, she loves fairies! Even more important, she touches on the theme that humankind has mistreated nature, reflecting many of my own writing topics.
Meet Allison Rose:
“When she is not writing, reading or working as a proofreader, Allison Rose spends most of her time around nature and animals. Most days, her head is in the clouds conjuring up stories and opening doors in her mind that she never knew existed. Her fiancé and her dog/writing buddy, Pippin, make up the rest of her life.
She believes in chasing dreams and hard work and that those who look for magic will find it.
Allison is in the process of writing the first novel of a YA fantasy series that takes place completely in the land of Faerie as well as the sequel to The Nameless.”
The Inspiration of Nature
My favorite place to write in is the middle of the woods, surrounded by trees, plant life, and woodland animals. There is something so comforting about the quiet, the purity and the beauty of the woods. It was in such a place that the story of The Nameless came to me.
I’ve always loved faeries. Though they can take many forms, they have always appeared to me as beings of nature, much closer to the true magic of the life around us then we humans will ever be. I imagined what it would be like to be a part of that life, a manifestation of the magic of nature. Thus my faeries came into being, or perhaps they were already there and I am just telling their story.
Kelty, the heroine of my novella and the reluctant faerie guardian of the wood, was the first to come to me. I imagined a being of pure nature would have a hard time living in this world, and so she became an outcast of the land of Faerie, banished to the human world. She became the lone faerie of the wood and a guardian against the careless treatment of nature by humankind. Humans became the antagonists of the story, their disrespect, and blindness to the true magic of nature around them winning them that role.
Somewhere in the midst of writing, though, I reminded myself that not all humans are careless, ignorant beings. There are some who do see the magic and respect it. And perhaps if they had a faerie on their side, the magic of the natural world would have a hope of survival.
The thought of a human and faerie working together intrigued me. I thought of the magic that would unite them and the things they could teach each other. Mostly, I dreamed of what such a duo could accomplish, especially against other humans with an eye for magic who seek to twist it into something unnatural and use it to for their own selfish means…
As I wrote, this fantasy story became more magical than that which I found around me, yet the natural magic that inspired me to write deserves much of the credit.
“Sometimes I wonder if this story even came from me, or if the trees whispered it to me on the breeze.”
I invite you into a world of magic and destruction where nature hangs in the balance while only an outcast faerie and one insightful human choose to fight for it.
The Nameless is my debut YA fantasy novella, and it is free to those who join my mailing list.
“As an outcast faerie forbidden to interact with humans, Kelty struggles to protect the dying magic of the human forest and regain favor with the Faerie of the Night. Humans prove to be dangerous obstacles, especially when they get their hands on dark magic even Kelty has never seen before. The worlds of Faerie and Earth collide in a mix of magic and mayhem that will forever change the faerie known on Earth only as The Nameless.”

By the way, would you be interested in appearing in my Author Spotlight – Guest Posts? I’m looking for posts dedicated to the themes of fairies, myths, and magic where published authors can show off their writing skills by stretching their wings and stepping out of their genre comfort zones if need be.
I want self-published authors to share their books and to tell us about the magic it took to create them. If you are an enthusiastic published author and would like to be featured on my blog, please click HERE to find out more.” ~Colleen~
