“Celebrate the Summer Solstice,” A Tanka Poem

life-is-likea-cup-of-tea

I’ve stretched the limits of my Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge this week, but I have a good reason as you will see below. In my Tanka poem, I used “cheer,” for praise, and “feed the fires,” for excite.

This is also a book cover reveal!

Please join me on Thursday, June 21st, to help me celebrate the release of my first book of poetry and short stories called, “Fairies, Myths, & Magic ~ A Summer Celebration.” This book is written as a tribute to the Summer Solstice.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice

This summer solstice—
cheer the balmy rising sun
Litha blessings flow.
Triumph the light over dark,
feed the fires of midsummer.

  1. Oooh. Lovely cover, Colleen. I love the magical font and the rich colors. Congrats on the book! My grandson is a solstice baby so we’ll be playing on a bouncy castle on the solstice, but I’ll be by to pick up your new book too! Happy Solstice. ❤

    1. Happy birthday to your sweet grandson. He is surely blessed to be a solstice baby. HOW cool! Thanks so much for your support, Diana. Wendy and I worked hard on this cover. It took quite a bit of work, but she is a gem at design. ❤
