IN THE AUTHOR’S WORDS:

“Josie Sparks is looking for an escape after a disastrous relationship. A summer job on a small Pacific Northwest island seems perfect. That is, until she meets her irascible new boss. She thinks she can help his sweet little girl–he’s another story.

Jacob Samuels needs someone reliable to care for his special needs daughter but is sorry he trusted his sister with the task when help arrives in the shape of a too-young, too-tempting therapist with pain-filled eyes he can’t ignore.

Sand, surf, and soft island breezes bring two lonely hearts together in this heartwarming tale of second chance romance and a love that lasts forever.

A delightful mixture of women’s fiction, chick-lit, romantic comedy, and family saga, Sweetheart Cove has something for every reader.”

MY RECOMMENDATION:

Romance stories with big hunky guys usually aren’t my thing but every once in a while, I like to read something that makes me feel all squishy inside. Luckily, Jacquie Biggar had a remedy for me, in her newest release, “Sweetheart Cove.”

After the man Josie Sparks was due to marry dumps her for her best friend, all she wants is a place to start over again. You know, some place where Josie can reinvent herself and figure out who she is again. She settles for a summer job as a therapist on a small Pacific Northwest island caring for a disabled child, named Jane.

Jane’s father, Jacob Samuels, is overbearing and a total pushover when it comes to his daughter. The first thing Josie realizes is that Jacob is hindering his daughter’s recovery from the tragic accident that took his wife’s life, and left Jane in a wheelchair.

When a puppy named Mischief is introduced into the family, the real healing begins for these three individuals who rediscover they need each other more than anything else.

Often romance novels can be cliche and formulaic – guy meets girl, etc. I never got that feeling with this novella. The characters were engaging and likable and behaved in a normal fashion. Sure Jacob Samuels is handsome, and Josie Sparks is beautiful, but isn’t that what love does to people?

If you are looking for a feel-good novel that restores your faith in humanity, slip into the world of “Sweetheart’s Cove.” Pack a bag. You might want to stay awhile. ❤

  1. I loved this story. Jacquie has a way of drawing a reader in and keeping them hooked until the very last page. The little girl in this story had my heart from word one. Great review, Colleen. All the best to Jacquie.

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Staci. Jane is central to this story. As most parents know, you want the very best for your child, and to see them hurt… that’s the worst.
I lost a nephew a few years ago. He was such a sweet little boy and we miss him every day. I wanted to pay homage to his parents with this story. It’s heart-breaking to see family members suffer either with life-changing injuries, like Jane’s, or possibly death.
