The Poet of the Week and Honorable Mention Poets will be published in the 2019 Poet of the Week Anthology, which everyone will be able to grab as a FREE PDF in January 2020.

Each week, I like to highlight a poet who I call the Poet of the Week, who has shared an exceptional message, or shown impassioned creativity through words or form. Poetry is all about perception, so don’t be shocked if you don’t feel the same way about a poem that I do.

The Poet of the Week

This week turned out to be one of the most difficult for me to pick just one poem! The challenge words must have resonated with you all. There is some premium poetry in this challenge.

This week, I’ve chosen Willow Willers as the Poet of the Week for her Shadorma poem featured below. I enjoyed Willow’s take on the prompt words. This shadorma shows an intensity of feelings, and I like the way her words flowed into an ultimatum. Pure drama!

What do You See?” #Shadorma

What aspect
Of nature untamed
Can you sense
Within me -
Is it love of free spirit
Or primitive lust?

Honorable Mention(s)

Padre’s Ramblings really caught my attention with his Nonet Poem. His choice of subject/theme was perfect for the prompt words! Make sure and visit his blog so you can see the photo of who he was writing about. 😀

“The Wild One” #Nonet

What to make of his temperament?
A nature unruly, unkept:
He chases every fancy –
Worrying not about
Feelings of others;
On which he so
Often does

I loved the playful attitude of Anita Dawes‘ Etheree. She is part of the famous Books & Bonsai blog with Jaye Marie. Who says you can’t write humorous poetry? Just remember to take one day and act like a barbarian! 😀

Character & Wild” #Etheree

Of myself
Do I like best?
Free native spirit
shed my unwanted clothes
To have no inhibition
Run naked into the ocean
To be as kind and lush as Nature
Take one day to be a barbarian…
