“Moon Madness,” #Haiku

This week for my poetry challenge, the words were “enchant and fly.” Finding different synonyms than everyone else proved to be rather interesting. So, for enchant, I used bewitched. For fly, I used a phrase, take flight.

What are you doing tonight to celebrate the full Harvest Moon?

Colleen M. Chesebro is an American Novelist & Poet who loves writing paranormal fantasy and magical realism, cross-genre fiction, syllabic poetry, and creative nonfiction. She loves all things magical which may mean that she could be experiencing her second childhood—or not. That part of her life hasn’t been fully decided yet. A few years ago, a mystical experience led her to renew her passion for writing and storytelling. These days she resides in the fantasy realm of the Faery Writer where she writes the magical poetry and stories that the fairy nymphs whisper to her in her dreams. Colleen won the “Little and Laugh” Flash Fiction Contest sponsored by the Carrot Ranch Literary Community on November 2017, and in 2018, she won first place for the “Twisted Travel” category. Colleen lives in Arizona with her husband. When she is not writing, Colleen enjoys spending time with her husband. She also loves gardening, reading, and crocheting old-fashioned doilies into works of art. Learn more about Colleen on colleenchesebro.com.

  1. Did you get the coven together to call down the moon? 😉 It’s time to clear out the clutter––both physical and emotional––before the winter. <3

  2. I loved your Haiku, Sis! The images are lovely and were perfect for your poem. <3

  3. I love “synchronicity stymied.”

  4. Colleen, wow that is an amazing Hiaku – stunning! I visualized exactly what you saw and what made you write it with such clarity and wonder. I watched that moon for hours last night and I have never seen anything more breathtaking than that Harvest Moon over the ocean. Your Haiku, made me see it again in my mind’s eye – and I thought, wow, amazing how you captured it so truly and so real. Fabulous! Karen Anna 🙂

  5. I love the poem and the imagery!! Wow!

  6. This is a lovely haiku, Colleen. Now that I am back from all my gallivanting around the world, I will start participating again.

  7. What am K doing for this moon? Going to my friends’ wedding!

  8. Colleen, what a magical poem to celebrate the full moon!

  9. I can just see this!

  10. The moon is peeking in and out of the clouds, and the clouds are shining. (K)

  11. Going to go outside and admire the full moon’s beauty.

  12. Aooooooo, that was good. What am I doing? Watching Rach and waiting to hear about your Harvest Moon adventure, lol. 🙂 <3

  13. Wonderful imagery!

  14. Our buildings electricity just went out ….

  15. Cute poem! I was surprised when I discovered that today is a full moon, together with Friday 13th. Seems that there are more than 20 years when last happened. It will be a magical night!
