Searching for Answers, #TankaProse

This week, Sally Cronin provided our poetry challenge theme prompt. She selected, “the night sky.” What a fabulous theme! In this topsy-turvey world we live in, remember to keep striving for the good.

Searching for Answers, #TankaProse

Tonight, the sky is awash with dark featherlike clouds whose wispy edges obscure the sparkle of the celestial show. Saguaro cactus, the sentinels of the desert, stand erect as if to guard against my innermost thoughts and fears: Covid-19 has now spread throughout the world.

How will this all end? We are merely pawns in the hands of a man who promised to protect us, and he has not kept his word. I feel myself choke as fear knots in my throat.

Above, a bright star tumbles toward the horizon. Without thinking, I reach for the light.

the new world order
our souls remain connected
searching for answers
our spirits find each other
to create new hopes and dreams

We can make it through this crisis, together. Turn on your computer and write some poetry.
