Mindful Monday–Self Compassion

Mindful Monday

For me, being mindful encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in my life I feel it applies to.  This week I want to talk about my path towards mindful compassion.

Last week, many of us celebrated the idea behind compassion by participating in an event called, 1000 Voices for Compassion.  That got me to thinking about self compassion and how that figures into the mindful equation.

I am a student of mindfulness.  I do not have all the answers for me, or anyone else.  Rather, I learn as I go, much like the rest of us in this world.  However, I strive towards improvement.  I want to be a mindful person, so that requires me to broach the subject with myself daily.

I try to be an observer of my own actions.  Trying to be non-judgmental of other people is a lesson learned all on its own.  No matter how hard I try, there is always something in my past, or a past experience that can color my attitude and cause me to be judgmental.  I had to recognize this aspect of my behavior and come to grips with it.  Realization is a powerful tool in the changing of behaviors.  It took a long time for me to learn to live, and let live.

That is the whole idea about mindfulness.  I try to be authentic and speak from my heart. I embrace new experiences and try to learn what I can from them.  I try to think before I speak – I try to, but sometimes I put my foot in my mouth and swallow half of my leg.  Which then, requires me to accept my behavior, learn from it and move on.

I did well last week by practicing my mindful eating habits.  It led to weight loss because I acted with mindful intention and did not eat unconsciously.  Ahhhhh,  another lesson learned.

Be Positive

How are you progressing with your mindful goals this week?

Remember, this is not a challenge.  This is an offering of support.  If you would like to join in with your own Mindful Monday goals you can do so in the comments, or on a separate post of your own making.  If you want to link back to my post, please feel free to do so however, it is not necessary.  My main objective here is to give and get support to become more mindful of the things I take for granted in life.

Peace and Joy to everyone this week,
