One Word Photo Challenge–BEAVER

Jennifer Nichole Wells color this week is beaver:  a lovely shade of brown.

2015-02-07 07.55.53

The dead leaves and trees in Fairy Swamp surely fit into the “beaver” category for the color brown.  I hope to get out tomorrow to see if there is any new growth with color sprouting out yet.

1-9-10 River Walk

The dead foliage and surrounding hills around the falls, in Great Falls, Montana (taken in January 2010 before we moved) gives you a good feel for the color of beaver.

Jennifer Nichole Wells Photo Challenge color for this week is sea-foam.  Below, you will see a picture of the sea-foam waters found off the Pensacola Beach Pier.

Local fisherman had hooked a shark while fishing from the top of the pier.  I managed to catch a quick photo before they cut him loose.

The pier is a favorite fishing spot in Pensacola, Florida.

Thanks for popping in for a quick visit.  I enjoy seeing all of you,

One Word Photo Challenge–Beige

Jennifer Nichole Wells Challenge color for this week is beige, one of my favorite colors to work with as a base color to add other colors to.  Find the rules to her challenge here.

2014-12-18 10.36.54

Muted shades of beige are found all over Fairy Swamp in the winter.

2014-10-09 11.06.34

The wild sea grasses on the beach are beige too.

Interestingly, the word beige, come from the French word, “bege” the color of undyed wool or cotton.

This heart doily is made with undyed cotton thread in a beige, or ecru color.

Many thanks to Jennifer for hosting her One Word Photo Challenge each week!  It is always a challenge to find the color and photograph something to represent it. Join us!

Thanks for visiting me today.  I can’t wait to see you all again!

One Word Photo Challenge–Persimmon

Jennifer Nichole Wells has done it again with her fun photo challenge (click here to learn more), which features a different color each week.  This week’s color is persimmon!  I love the color of orange in any shade!

2014-11-03 11.00.52

These are real persimmons.  They are not ripe, so the color is not as brilliant as the photo above, but my tea kettle in the background works for the color also.

2015-01-14 11.01.02

I have a small garden in my creative room and realized that my pen holder (a tiny flower pot) is the perfect color of persimmon too.

2014-06-30 07.32.53

I know I have shared this daylily before, so you must forgive me, however the color is stunning and almost a persimmon color.  I am pining for spring and summer.  All the beauty is there waiting for us just around the corner.

Thanks for popping in for a quick visit today.  I enjoy seeing you every time you can make it by,

One Word Photo Challenge–Marsala

Marsala?  What color could that possibly be?  Marsala has been voted the Color of the Year for 2015!  Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word Photo challenge picked a great color.  Find out about her challenge here.

PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2015 - Marsala 18-1438

Marsala is also a wine, which goes with the deep reddish-brown coloring found in the photo above.

This is as close as I can get to marsala!  This is a Crepe Myrtle tree in the color that I called dusky pink!  This hopefully will be the color of the tree that I had planted in my front yard last summer.  My tree is quite young yet, so we will see if it blooms this year.

Thanks to Jennifer for hosting this fun photo event, and for all of you who popped in to see what I am up too.  I will see you again!

One Word Photo Challenge–“Ultramarine”

Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word Photo Challenge color is ultramarine blue!  Click the badge to learn about the challenge.

This was a tough color for me this week.  The blue is hard to find in nature.  These are not my pictures.  I am sharing them because of the striking color of the Delphinium in my friend’s backyard in Montana this summer.  She kindly shared the pictures with me.

Here is a close up of the flowers.  I think they are quite breathtaking.  I have never seen colors this intense.  I will have to look at planting some of these beauties next year.

Thank you for your wonderful visit.  I always love seeing you!

One Word Photo Challenge– “Olive”

Olive               one-word-photo-challenge-badge

Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word Photo Challenge color for this week is olive.  This is an easy color to produce here in Northwest Florida right now because just about all the remaining evergreen type trees and bushes are this color.  Enjoy!

2014-12-13 09.16.34

Fairy Swamp has olive colored bushes.

2014-12-18 10.30.20

The tall Florida Pines are an olive color.

2014-12-16 07.51.18

The Yaupon Holly that grows wild in the fields and around our tree line is a wonderful olive color.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I am up to today.  I enjoyed our visit,

One Word Photo Challenge–PINE

Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word Photo challenge this week made me happy because it is still green here in Florida and I can come up with pictures of the color “pine.” Woo Hoo!

Here are a few pictures of “real” Montana Pine trees.  Notice the color.  It is not a deep dark green that we always associate with our Christmas Trees.

I think the green leaves along the tree line in my back yard are closer to a “pine” color.

I love the deep, rich colors of green and the pine color is one of my favorites!

Thanks for stopping by to visit today.  I enjoy seeing you all!
