Mindful Monday – 7 Mindful Mantras to Get You through the Week

Welcome to Mindful Monday! Each week I try to examine new or sometimes old things about myself. I have found that being mindful encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in my life I feel it applies to, as I attempt to live in the present. Come and join me on my journey. You never know what you will learn about yourself.

This week, I want to share seven mindful mantras to help get you through the week.

My mindful goals for this week are to keep working on patience and just living in the moment. I just need to slow down and take it easier. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy! My mantra for the week is: Just BREATHE…

Remember, this is not a challenge.  This is an offering of support.  If you would like to join in with your own Mindful Monday goals you can do so in the comments, or on a separate post of your own making.  If you want to link back to my post, please feel free to do so, however, it is not necessary.  My main aim here is to give and get support to become more mindful of the things I take for granted in my life.

Would you like to share your mindfulness journey with others? If you are interested in sharing your goals or aspirations, I want to highlight your journey here on Silver Threading. Please send me an email at silverthreading@gmail.com and I will be happy to feature you on a guest post.

Here is what ShanJeniah’s Lovely Chaos had to share this week: Savoring Blackberries in the Sun-A Mindful Monday Food Meditation. This is one you will really enjoy! Please stop by and drop her a line.

Thanks for stopping by. I loved seeing all of you!

Namaste. I wish you joy and peace throughout your week!

Mindful Monday–Find Time to Love Who You Are

Mindful Monday

Welcome to Mindful Monday!  I have found that being mindful encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in my life I feel it applies to.  Each week I try to self discover new things about myself.  This week, I decided that I would concentrate a little bit on myself.  I am talking about self-love, or caring for myself as a person.

I have a busy week ahead, as March 31st our oldest daughter Ronda, and our two grand daughters Maleah, and Arianna, arrive for a short visit.  My normal mode of operation would center on cleaning the house from top to bottom, baking all kinds of goodies for healthy snacks, and generally working myself up into a frenzy trying to ensure that everything turns out perfect.  Usually, by the time they arrive, I am worn out and stressed from trying too hard.  In addition, these things that matter to me so much, (cleaning, etc.) really do not matter to them anyway.  They just want to spend time with us!

This time, I have planned differently.  I have planned time for myself.  Yes, I will dust and vacuum, and complete all the necessary things to insure that our daughter and grand daughters will be comfortable.  That is a given.  The rest can simply happen.  I decided that this visit, we will literally live in the moment.  No big plans, just whatever strikes us at the time, we will do.

This Tuesday, I even have a pedicure scheduled!  Gardening on Thursday, and Friday, Ron and I will go grocery shopping and get that chore completed.  I have allowed plenty of “me time,” where I can meditate and rejuvenate myself with peace and quiet.  That way, I will be refreshed to spend time with my grand daughters and daughter.  I am aging with grace.

I have found that the positive affirmations above, help me take care of myself.  As women, we spend so much time taking care of everyone else and trying to make everything perfect for our families, we neglect the one that might need the most care – us!  Take the time to enjoy your own company.  Do the things that bring pleasure to you.  When you make yourself happy, your joy spreads to everyone else and becomes contagious.

Love blooms into mindfulness

Mindful Monday: Gratitude

Mindful Monday

To me, Mindful Monday encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in my life I feel it applies to.

Today, I feel the need to stress just how much “Gratitude,” should figure into your mindfulness-equation when you are self evaluating yourself and setting goals.

Reciting gratitude mantras is a way of affirming to yourself just how fabulous and special your life truly is.  I am blessed, beyond all means.  I am so thankful for where I am at in my life.

Take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate all that you have in your own life.  Can you feel the gratitude washing over you and making you smile?

The “Gratitude Mantras” image above comes from Integrative Nutrition.com. They have an excellent blog to check out for more information.

Gratitude Sunday

My friend Colline, of “Colline’s Blog, hosts a Gratitude Project each week to remind us to be thankful of all the good things in our life.

Last week, I dealt with how ‘change’ sometimes makes it difficult for me to meet my mindful goals.  I decided, as long as I thought positive about meeting my goals, when real life got in the way, I had to let go of my own self incrimination.  All that did was make me feel bad about myself – never my intention to begin with.

In fact, one of my blog friends pointed out I actually had achieved a goal I had set for myself, which was to get the tile work done in my house.  Maybe not a mindfulness goal, but still a goal no less.  It is easy to overlook the obvious sometimes.

As the renovation work in my home winds down, I will soon be able to return to my normal pattern of life.  I am thankful for my fantastic husband Ron, who wanted the tile work and new Pergo floors, as much as I did!

What are you thankful for this week?

Mindful Monday

Mindful Monday

I am starting a weekly feature called, “Mindful Monday,” where I want to share my views on becoming ‘mindful’.  This encompasses the act of being watchful, aware, wary, heedful, alert, careful, or attentive, in whatever area in your life you feel it applies to.

Mindfulness...

This week, because I over indulged during the holidays, I am going to practice “mindful-eating.” I need to get back on track with my weight loss journey.  I need to slow down and take my time.  I also need to eat at the table, not sitting on the couch just munching away, or at my desk reading blogs on WordPress.

I also decided that this week I am going to use chopsticks to eat at least one meal each day.  This will make me slow down and savor my food.

The above image is a great way to jump start your weight loss journey by practicing mindful eating.  My mantra for this week is:

“EAT TO NOURISH & ENERGIZE.”

This is not a challenge.  This is an offering of support.  If you would like to join in with your own Mindful Monday goals you can do so in the comments or on a separate post of your own making.  If you want to link back to my post, please feel free to do so however, it is not necessary.  My main objective here is to give and get support to become more mindful of the things I take for granted in life.

Peace and Joy to everyone this week,
