I love the four seasons and that is one of the reasons we moved from Florida to Colorado… I know one extreme to another. It does make for some interesting weather, though! Here is a quick pick of the seasons as I have know them the last couple of years!

Winter

This is a photo of our oak tree last November. It was our first Colorado blizzard. (This tree has no signs of growth this spring. I believe it has passed on to the great tree heaven up above)

Pixel Prose Challenge– “Winter”

Christmas Fairy

Winter shows her colors in the sparkle

on the crystal frost she paints on the trees, and

in the bite of the cold north wind

she caresses our pale cheeks – rosy.

Pinecones, holly, and red berries

encircle her golden tresses,

while icy starlight twinkles

in the deep green of her eyes.

Winter wears a mantle of the

finest moss – the palest green,

her spider-web gown of the whitest silk.

Winter is a fickle teenage girl,

teasing us with her whims –

all the while throwing tantrums of

blizzards, fog, ice, and snow.

Hail Winter!

Her reign begins.

Autumn’s Last Gasp

2014-12-07 07.46.50

Autumn breathes the last gasps of the season,

as leaves of brown and gold drift from the treetops –

a blanket of decaying warmth.

Grey skies steal the color from the day,

mourning the end of another time of year.

The darkness envelopes and caresses

lulling the earth to sleep,

held in the cradle of the slough.

Winter awaits.
