Calcite – The Fairy Stone in the Heart Stone Chronicles

One of my favorite things about writing my first YA novel has been all the collaboration I’ve received from my blogging community. In many ways, The Heart Stone Chronicles: The Swamp Fairy encompasses the theme of family and what it feels like to belong to something bigger than life itself, which is how I feel about this community. Thank you. You have all made me feel like I belong. Abby and I seem to have much in common. 😉

It is with my greatest pleasure that I want to introduce Irene, from IreneDesign2011.com. She is one of the first bloggers that I met when I started on WordPress, and she has become a good friend. If you don’t know Irene, you will want to check out her blog. She is one of the most creative jewelry designers, and I love her work.

As I was writing the Heart Stone Chronicles, I came up with a brilliant idea. You see, in the book, Abby Forester inherits two precious things from her mother: swamp land that has been in her family for generations and a calcite pendant which is a piece of a calcite heart stone found in that very swamp.

Calcite is considered to be a fairy stone, and it is believed that it bestows upon the wearer, the magical properties of prophecy and healing.

My idea was to offer a calcite pendant similar to the one that Abby wears in the book for an affordable price. I knew just the person for the job… Irene. Now, I can’t promise fairy visitations or that you will suddenly possess the ability to prophesize the future – but you never know!

My friend, the amazing author, Eloise DeSousa, created a video (I love her accent) to introduce the pendants. (I told you this was a collaborative event). You can find Eloise here: http://amazon.com/author/eloisedesousahttp://eloisedesousa.wordpress.com.

Even though the book is not available until January 3, 2017, I wanted to share the necklaces with all of you because I think they will make an excellent Christmas present. Here are the links to the two necklaces (small calcite & large calcite):

This would be a fabulous gift for a teen who loves fantasy books and believes in the possibility of magic. In fact, I put these same links in the back of my book so that my readers could have the opportunity to experience the healing properties of calcite, firsthand.

I hope you will check out this unique gift idea. My granddaughters can’t wait to get their own calcite pendants.

to my blog family! <3

  8. What a wonderful marketing idea, Colleen. I’m sure the pendant is going to appeal to lots of people.
Love the video as well. Had no idea Eloise made them, although I do remember one for her last book which I’m sure her daughter made.
Not long until publishing day. Wishing you lots and lots of luck with the book launch.

    • Thanks, Hugh. I’ve got an email from CreateSpace saying my book and cover has been accepted… lots of excitement here this morning. Eloise made a book trailer for me too. I am really excited! <3

      • That’s wonderful news, Colleen. I know how you feel. When I got that email from CreateSpace, I was shouting ‘Yipee’ for at least a few minutes. 😀 I think I even did the can-can. Then I calmed myself down and had a cup of tea. 😀

        • LOL! Good for you, Hugh. I did much the same thing. How hard was it to set up Amazon and the Kindle? I heard it is rough???

          • CreateSpace offers the option of creating the Kindle version of the book for you, Colleen. I’d already set the Kindle version up, so did not use it. Yes, it takes time, but it was far easier than I thought it was going to be. I’m sure you’ll sail through it. You know I’m here if you have any questions or need any help with it, so please do.

  9. Love the pendants, love the video, and I’m sure I’ll love the book. Happy Holidays, Colleen! xx

  10. What a wonderful idea! My niece in San Diego is a young teen and voracious reader and when your book is available, I will buy a copy for her! But a pendant to go with it? GEEN-YUSS, Colleen!
